Tribute to the 69 martyrs
A first room pays tribute to those shot at the citadel. Sixty-nine portraits of these men line the entrance wall: Resistance fighters held at the citadel, tortured and shot, who were found in May 1945. In the same room, testimonies and information on the round-ups complete a route richly illustrated with photographs. A film of around fifteen minutes is screened to round off this tribute.

Port-Louis and the war.
The rest of the visit covers the 1939-45 war as it unfolded in Port-Louis, in chronological order. Brand-new panels frame the two large models of the naval hospital in 1804 and of the Récollets convent in the 17th century. This room also dwells on the people of Port-Louis who were civilian victims, Resistance fighters or died in deportation..
Historical rooms
They punctuate the whole route and are particularly present in the third room, steeping the place in the atmosphere of the Second World War and echoing the murals painted by the Germans. A film of around ten minutes, “The Atlantic Wall”, is screened in this room.
